Man charged with assault after stabbing victim found on ground in Behchoko

Police say two men were fighting when one allegedly stabbed the other repeatedly

A man is facing assault charges after police allege he stabbed another man multiple times in a fight.

Behchoko RCMP say they received a complaint shortly after 10 p.m. on Aug. 19 that two men were fighting. When police arrived on scene, they found a lone male laying on the ground with what was described as multiple stab wounds.

"The lone suspect appeared to have fled the scene," stated NT media relations officer Cpl. Josh Seaward. "First aid was provided to the victim until paramedics arrived. Additional resources including a Police Dog Services member, the Emergency Response Team and a Remote Piloted Aircraft System were deployed to the community to assist.

Seaward stated that the suspect was located nearby walking on the street and was arrested without incident. A knife believed to be used in the assault was located by Police Dog Services. 

Keanu Lafferty, 24, of Behchoko, has charged with aggravated assault. He appeared before a justice of the peace and was remanded into custody.
