Yellowknife singer/songwriter Carmen Braden has released her new single, Kick Kick.

The tune provides a glimpse into the artist鈥檚 third album, Seed Songs.

鈥淓ach song has a core 鈥� a 鈥榮eed idea鈥� 鈥� I tried to capture,鈥� Braden stated. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e each a kind of vignette: a moment in time; a snapshot of joy or struggle; fragments; phrases; edges鈥︹��

Throughout the pandemic, Braden wrote dozens of these seed song ideas, all which connect to her experiences regarding both beauty and struggle.

Seed Songs isn鈥檛 just a clever title either, as most of the tracks on Braden鈥檚 album are shorter than average, the shortest coming in at 38 seconds.

鈥淚 feel there is beauty in miniatures, in brevity,鈥� said Braden. 鈥淚f I can say something meaningful and musical in one minute, then that鈥檚 all the time it needs to take.鈥�

The full album, set for release this fall, will feature a total of 18 seed songs.
