A new group has been organized to help ºÚÁϳԹÏÍø residential school survivors in the process of sharing experiences and healing and participating in conferences.

The organization, known as We Always Remember (WAR), will strive "to protect, promote and preserve stories and memories of former NWT residential school students and their families," according to a news release issued on Aug. 25.

"We will honour the children who survived residential schools and those who never came home through the creation of a monument, resource centre and related events and activities," said Bob Overold, one of the group's co-founders.

Co-chair Doreen Cleary added, "TRC [Truth and Reconciliation Commission] calls to action #82 calls upon the territorial government in collaboration with survivors and their organizations to build a monument to honour survivors and those who were lost at residential school. We insist on being a vital part of that process."

The organization is a project under the MakeWay Charitable Society, the news release stated.
