A liquor seizure that Yellowknife RCMP say comprised 92 bottles, intended to be shipped to Gameti, where alcohol is prohibited.

Yellowknife RCMP have charged four people after seizing a large shipment of liquor headed for Gameti.

In May 2025, police say they were alerted by a local airline about a large quantity of alcohol on a privately chartered plane destined for Gameti, a community that prohibits liquor.

Officers investigated and seized 92 bottles of alcohol.

Three men, aged 73, 49 and 55, and one 54-year-old woman have since been charged with exposing liquor for sale, according to RCMP. The RCMP did not identify any of these individuals in a July 3 news release.

The four of them are due to appear in court on July 22.
