The Iqaluit RCMP and Iqaluit Fire Department responded to a call on July 14 at approximately 6:15 p.m. regarding reports of a 14-year-old girl who had become stranded on the rock cliffs between Inuksuk High school and the adjacent 8-storey building.

Two RCMP members were subsequently able to reach and secure the girl while a third officer assisted. The Iqaluit Fire Department then used a ladder to rescue her. As a precaution, the young girl was taken to the Qikiqtani General Hospital, but she was released to family after it was determined she did not sustain any injuries.
