Fort Resolution RCMP are involved in a search for an overdue boater.

Police say they received a report on Sept. 3 at 5:23 p.m. of a male who left Taltson Bay by boat at 10 a.m. to travel to Fort Resolution. Witnesses reported the 35-year-old man from Fort Resolution, whose identity has not been released, appeared intoxicated and left without a personal flotation device.

Police say a search manager has been assigned, and the search is being aided by the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, the Canadian Coast Guard Auxiliary, the Canadian Rangers and community members using personal watercraft.

"Despite these efforts, the man has not been located," said NT RCMP media relations officer Julie Plourde on Sept. 4. "Search efforts are ongoing.

"The Fort Resolution RCMP would like to thank all the volunteers and searchers who are contributing to the search efforts."
