Wrestling remained Nunavut's strongest sport at the Canada Summer Games this year.

Both the men's and women's squads finished in 11th place, putting them above the Northwest Territories and Yukon.

In head-to-head competition with Yukon, Nunavut triumphed in the men's match 31-14 while the women prevailed 40-5.

Back in 2022, Nunavut won its only gold medal at the Canada Summer Games in wrestling when Cambridge Bay's Eekeeluak Avalak earned the title.

In volleyball, Nunavut's men secured their second win against the Northwest Territories on Aug. 22, this time in the consolation round. Nunavut won in three straight sets: 25-23, 25-17 and 25-23.

On Aug. 23, the men's team lost to Nova Scotia 25-24, 25-16 and 25-21.

The men's volleyball team ended the tournament in 12th place, one spot ahead of the Northwest Territories.

Wrapping up the Canada Summer Games matches, the Nunavut women's volleyball team lost its consolation round match against the Northwest Territories, but managed to win its first two sets of the tournament.

Women's volleyball placed 13th overall in the tournament.

The Canada Summer Games were hosted by St. John's, NL, from Aug. 9-24.
