The territorial government has appointed Kenny Ruptash as the new chairperson of the Aurora College Board of Governors for a three-year term.

Ruptash is also the president of the NWT and Nunavut Chamber of Mines and has previously held senior governance roles with Prosper NWT and the M茅tis Dene Development Fund.

According to the GNWT, his three-year term comes with a mandate agreement which includes transitioning to a polytechnic university by 2027 and launching the college鈥檚 first fully developed, quality-assured degree program.

"I look forward to working with my colleagues on the Board and with College staff to deliver on the objectives set out in the mandate agreement. Aurora College is well positioned to become a cornerstone of 黑料吃瓜网 development by aligning its programs with the needs of the North," Ruptash said.

"Mr. Ruptash is the right person to lead the Board at this critical time," said Education, Culture and Employment Minister Caitlin Cleveland in a statement Thursday. "The GNWT is committed to working with the Board to support the College鈥檚 transformation into a global leader in northern education that is shaped by the NWT鈥檚 priorities and ready to deliver new opportunities for future generations."

Aurora College is in the midst of a comprehensive institutional quality assurance review by the Campus Alberta Quality Council as well.

Ruptash replaces Joe Handley, who resigned as the board's chairperson earlier this year.
