Hay River RCMP arrested three drunk drivers in one weekend.
On May 24, around 2:30 a.m., police received a tip about a suspected drunk driver leaving a bar. They found a 35-year-old woman who subsequently failed a roadside screening and was arrested. She was later released after providing breath samples twice the legal limit, police state.
That same day, around 9:15 p.m., RCMP were alerted to an intoxicated person driving an all-terrain vehicle on K'atl'odeeche First Nation. Police arrested a 43-year-old man who provided breath samples more than three times the legal limit, they state.
And on May 25 around 4 p.m., police say an officer conducted a traffic stop after spotting a motorist driving erratically. A 40-year-old man was arrested after appearing intoxicated and later blew more than four times the legal limit, according to the Mounties.
All three accused have been released and are scheduled to appear in court on criminal charges, according to RCMP.
"Motorists are reminded that they are subject to mandatory alcohol screening during any traffic stop with police," the RCMP stated on May 29. "Anyone operating a vehicle with a blood alcohol content of 50 milligrams of alcohol per 100 millilitres of blood or higher faces immediate licence suspension, or criminal charges if that number is 80 or higher."
