The city has announced that the Wildcat Cafe in Old Town has been closed for the remainder of 2024 following the fire at the building last week.

The Wildcat Cafe is now closed for the rest of the year.

The city made the announcement late Wednesday afternoon with the fire at the building last week named as the reason why.

It has been a pleasure working with Chef Niki Mckenzie and we are saddened by the unfortunate events causing the Wildcat Caf矇 to close early, Johanna Elliot, the city's facilities manager, was quoted as saying. We look forward to making the necessary repairs so that residents can enjoy more of Nikis elevated dishes again next year.

The popular restaurant was forced to close its doors on the evening of Aug. 8 following a fire that the initial investigation showed started inside the wall of the mechanical room near the back of the restaurant area. Firefighters managed to bring the fire under control after opening up the wall.

The fire was contained to a small area of the building which kept the flames from causing more damage, a city spokesperson told 窪蹋勛圖厙 later in the evening.

Myself and my team have had an incredible time serving our community as the latest iteration of the Wildcat Cafe, stated Mckenzie, who was the contractor for the restaurant this year. The City is working hard behind the scenes to get everything back up and running for the 2025 summer season."

It wasn't known exactly what repairs would be taking place nor was a timeline given on how long any repairs would take to be completed. This story will be updated should that information become available.
